MAKE & REMAKE

by Florence Peake

Florence Peake brought her new performance MAKE to YSP, celebrating the working life at the Park, including the movement, cleaning and installation of sculptures. Peake choreographed and directed performers through synchronised activity, to create a monolithic structure in Longside Gallery, which is immediately dismantled.

MAKE takes an irreverent look at how sculpture is created, displayed and maintained. A task force of ten women build and then dismantle a monolithic structure through a series of choreographed tasks; ritualising, parodying and unveiling the often hidden labour of art-making, 2013 - 2015
